Hush n Wonder

fashion, food, and all things fabulous

Via Free People

I was going through the Free People catalog the other day and have come to the conculusion that I’m really, really into slips.  The simplest, lightest, laciest, and most delicate of dresses look amazing paired with chunky boots, layers of necklaces, and oversized sweaters.    It’s a look that can work in the winter paired with tights and will transition seamlessly into summer.  The slip exudes a lot of sex appeal without being vulgar, and it’s interesting – it’s not something you’re going to see everyday.  Below are some looks that perfectly incoporate the slip.

Rules to Slip By…

– Pay attention to length.  Slips look perfect sexily peeking out under baggy sweaters or tunics, but are also fun paired with boxy cropped sweaters.

–  Try pairing a slip with your favorite mini skirt of short hemmed dress.  The extra length can add a little innocence to sultry numbers.

– Avoid just slips and stilletos.  This was in about 5 years ago and now looks dated.  Keep the look modern by adding a casual detail like a big leather belt or fluttery vest.

– Play around with different textures – tulle, silk, and lace all give very different looks, so don’t be afraid to play around with it.
